Data rules

Data rules connect what InputGuard detects to what should happen next.

How data rules work

A data rule pairs a detection category with an action. When the extension detects content matching a category, it applies the action assigned to that category — for example, warn on email addresses but block on private keys.

Standalone vs. managed rules

In standalone mode you control your own rules locally. In a managed organization, administrators set rules centrally and distribute them through policy. Some actions, such as requiring a reason or blocking, are available only in managed mode.
